Past Continuous Tense

Simple Sentences:-

Subject + was/ Were + verb (1st form of verb)+ ing + object

Examples:-

• I was writing a novel.
• They were making a noise.
• Normal was kneading flour.

Negative Sentences:-

Subject + was/were+not+verb(1st form of verb) + ing + object.

Examples:-

• I was not reading a book.
• They were not doing their work.
• Alex was not weeping.

Interrogative Sentences:-

Was/Were+Subject+Verb(1st form of verb) ing + object ?
Questioning word+ Was/Were + Subject + not +verb ( 1st form of verb ) + ing + Object ?

Examples:-

• Was she reading a newspaper ?
• Who was ringing the bell?
• Why were you not playing cricket?

This is Tense is used to show the work which was being held in past.
